Pearl River sweeps Bevill State and Coastal Alabama

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River volleyball team bounced back from a rough two-match stretch Saturday, sweeping Bevill State 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 30-28) and Coastal Alabama 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-13).

"Our defense was the key today," head coach Haley Chatham said. "Jordyn Wilks stayed disciplined, made some minor adjustments and was really solid for us. Skyla Rann was the glue in the backcourt. She played with no mercy — got tough balls up and chased down balls that we don't always go for."

Pearl River (8-6 overall) made quick work of Bevill State in the first two sets of the day, winning 25-19 and 25-15. One of the most highly contested sets of the year followed with Pearl River finally taking it 30-28 to secure a victory.

The Wildcats took on Coastal Alabama to close out the day and instantly got into a battle, taking the opening set 26-24. PRCC won the next set 25-19 before winning the final one handily, 25-13.
