POPLARVILLE, Miss. — After an incredible week between the posts for the No. 15 Pearl River women's soccer team, Aníta Guðmundsdóttir (Kópavogur, Iceland) has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Goalkeeper of the Week.
Guðmundsdóttir played 200 minutes last week in matches against No. 5 Jones College and No. 10 Northwest. The sophomore racked up 27 saves and allowed just four goals in the games.
In the 2-2 draw against Jones College, Guðmundsdóttir tallied 12 saves and allowed a pair of goals. Against Northwest, she turned away 15 shots and allowed two goals.
In six games this season the goalkeeper has made 42 saves and allowed just six goals.
