MARTIN, Tenn. — The Pearl River rodeo teams turned in a strong performance over the weekend at the Ozark Region event hosted by UT Martin, highlighted by multiple top individual finishes and a standout showing in team roping.
On the men's side, Pearl River finished tied for second overall with 485 points, while the women's team placed second with 150 points.
Leading the way for the Wildcats was Presley Stogner (Angie, La.; Pine), who delivered one of the top performances of the entire weekend in breakaway roping. Stogner posted times of 2.3 and 2.8 seconds for a 5.1 average, totaling 150 points to finish among the event leaders and power PRCC's women's squad.
In steer wrestling, Tyler Porter (Tylertown; Christian Light Academy) added another big result for Pearl River. Porter turned in runs of 4.2 and 4.1 seconds for an 8.3 average, earning 145 points and a top finish in the competition.
The biggest highlight of the weekend came in team roping, where Pearl River teammates Bryson Crawford (Felda, Fla.) and Gentry Silver (Iowa, La.; Bell City) roped together and dominated the field. The duo posted runs of 8.0 and 8.4 seconds for a 16.4 average, securing 160 points to lead all PRCC competitors and finish among the top teams overall.
In calf roping, Tate Joiner (Husser, La.; Loranger) contributed with a solid first-round time of 10.9 seconds, earning 20 points for the Wildcats.
Pearl River also saw action in barrel racing, where Payton Burroughs (Ellisville; West Jones) competed for the women.
