POPLARVILLE, Miss — Pearl River men's soccer standout Landon Melnik (Ocean Springs) has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Goalkeeper of the Week after helping the Wildcats defeat Northwest Friday.

The freshman made the most of his first career start, delivering a commanding performance between the posts. Melnik recorded nine saves and allowed just one goal, playing a crucial role in securing the 5-1 win for Pearl River.

The Wildcats are back in action Tuesday at 7 p.m., when they host Copiah-Lincoln at home. They'll then hit the road on Friday for a 2 p.m. matchup against East Mississippi in Scooba.
