Pearl River goalkeeper earns fourth MACCC honor

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River's Maddux Francis (Poplarville) has been a mainstay on the weekly award sheet. Following yet another remarkable run of form, the standout Wildcat was named the MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week. The honor is Francis' fourth of the season.

Francis is joined on the MACCC honor roll this week by teammate Alex Emery (Gulfport; West Harrison).

Andre Nicholson (Kingston, Jamaica; Clarendon College) and Harper Baggett (Ocean Springs) were previously honored by the MACCC.

Francis backstopped No. 3 Pearl River (11-0-1 overall) to another perfect week, leading PRCC past Meridian 2-0 and then topping Copiah-Lincoln 4-0. In the two games, Francis turned away all seven shots he faced.

Francis' season stats are scattered throughout the NJCAA leaderboard. The William Carey transfer is first in goals against average (0.25) and save percentage (.936), tied for first in shoutouts (nine) and fourth in wins (11). He's also 22nd in minutes (1,062) and 43rd in saves (44). Francis' nine shutouts ties a school record.

In addition to Francis' MACCC honors, he has also earned an NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week honor.
