POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River goalkeeper John Bowman (Bay St. Louis; Bay) is turning in a shutout when it comes to weekly MACCC awards. For the second week in a row, the PRCC sophomore has been named MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week. The league announced the award Tuesday.

The keeper was a big reason why Pearl River earned a 2-0 week and broke into the NJCAA rankings at No. 18. In a 2-1 victory at East Central, Bowman conceded his first goal of the season but still managed to stop two shots for the win.

Bowman was busy in the Wildcats' 4-0 victory over Itawamba later in the week. His seven saves in that match were a season-high. He also earned his second shutout in three matches.

NEXT UP
PRCC is scheduled to visit Summit on Friday for a 4 p.m. match against Southwest. The Wildcats return to the PRCC Soccer Complex next Tuesday to host Meridian. Kickoff in Poplarville is scheduled for 7 p.m.
