MOBILE, ALA. — Pearl River men's golf wrapped up competition at the Tommy Snell Invitational last week, finishing 3rd overall after posting a score of 43-over-par total across three rounds at Sunkist Country Club.
The Wildcats turned in an outstanding performance at Sunkist, recording 24 birdies across three rounds of play. Pearl River also tallied 160 pars — the second-most among the 13-team field — showcasing the team's consistency throughout the tournament.
Jeremiah Cochran (Gautier, Covenant Christian Academy) led the Wildcats, opening with a 73 on his way to a top-15 finish. In round two, he collected three birdies, including conversions on the par-3 11th and par-3 14th.
Cochran closed strong in the final round, firing his lowest score of the week with an even-par 72. He birdied two holes in the round — including the 12th, which played as the second-toughest hole of the day — finishing the tournament with five total birdies and tied for 15th overall.
William Dickerson (Gautier) followed closely behind, also opening with a 73. His first round featured an impressive stretch of 10 consecutive pars, including a clean front nine. Dickerson improved to a 1-under 71 in round two, highlighted by a strong front side.
He carded a 75 in the final round with 13 pars, bringing his tournament total to 39 pars — the most in the 72-player field. He finished tied with Cochran at nine-over par, securing a top-15 finish.
Freshman Riley Barnett (Lakeville, Minn.; Lakeville South) was the next Wildcat on the leaderboard, finishing 13-over par. In a challenging opening round where birdies were scarce, Barnett posted a 74, highlighted by a birdie on the 15th — the No. 1 handicap hole for the tournament.
He surged in round two with four birdies en route to an even-par 72. Barnett added another birdie in the final round, bringing his tournament total to six, and closed with a 77 to finish 27th overall.
Seth Tubb (Hattiesburg; Presbyterian Christian) placed fourth among Pearl River golfers at 16-over par. He opened with a 75, recording two birdies in the first round. After an 80 in round two, Tubb rebounded impressively with a 1-over 71 in the final round, leading Pearl River over the final 18 holes. His closing round was sparked by back-to-back birdies on the par-3 seventh and par-5 eighth holes.
Competing as an individual, Bo Ashley (Purvis) finished 25-over par. He carded an 82 in round one with a birdie on the fifth hole before improving to a 78 in round two and a 75 in the final round. Ashley improved his score each day, finishing 57th overall.
Lucas Johnson (Long Beach) placed 62nd at 27-over par. He opened with a 79, highlighted by a birdie on the sixth hole, then followed with a 76 after starting round two with a birdie on his opening hole. Johnson finished with an 82 in the final round, adding one more birdie to bring his tournament total to four.
Sean Stiglets (Ocean Springs; St. Martin) finished 67th overall. He birdied the par-5 18th in round one and added another birdie in round two on the 14th hole, finishing that round with an 80. Stiglets closed with an 82 to end the tournament at 31-over par.
Brayden Smith (Sumrall) rounded out the Wildcats' lineup. He carded an 87 in each of the first two rounds, recording a birdie in round one, before improving to an 83 in the final round.
