PRCC's Daijon Leatherman tabbed NJCAA Player of the Week

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The National Junior College Athletic Association announced its National Player of the Week on Wednesday, and Pearl River men's basketball center Daijon Leatherman (Slidell, La.; Legacy School of Sports and Sciences) earned the honor.

Leatherman has been dominant in the paint for the Wildcats all season, and last week was no exception. He opened the stretch with a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double at Meridian. A few nights later, he delivered his best performance of the year, finishing with 20 points and a career-high 22 rebounds while adding two assists. Overall, Leatherman averaged 20.5 points and 16 rebounds on the week.

The center has been electric for Pearl River Wildcats this season, averaging 14.5 points, nine rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He is shooting a blistering 63.3 percent from the field.
