POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River football is adding a wealth of experience to its staff with the addition of Brandon Deaderick as the program's new defensive line coach.
Deaderick joins the Wildcats after spending last season at Southern Miss.
"We are extremely excited about Coach (Brandon) Deaderick joining out staff," head coach Seth Smith said. "He's had a tremendous amount of success as a player and as a coach. Playing collegiately at Alabama and playing for the Patriots in the NFL allowed him to be coached by two of the greatest coaches in the history of our sport. I'm fired up to watch him bring that content knowledge here and maximize the development of our players."
During the 2023-24 seasons, Deaderick was an analyst at Ole Miss. Prior to that, he spent three seasons coaching the defensive line at East Mississippi from 2020-22, helping develop a dominant front and mentoring future college players. He also served on the staff at the University of Tennessee for two seasons, where he helped engineer one of the most impressive in-season turnarounds in college football. In 2019, Tennessee won its final five regular-season games after a 2-5 start and secured a TaxSlayer Gator Bowl victory over Indiana. During that stretch, Tennessee's defense allowed just 14.4 points per game, a mark that led the SEC.
Deaderick brings impressive playing experience, spending seven seasons in the NFL. Drafted by the New England Patriots in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft, he started at defensive end in Super Bowl XLVI. He also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints, appearing in 60 games with 17 starts and recording 62 tackles, six tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.
Deaderick played three seasons at Alabama under legendary head coach Nick Saban and was a member of the Crimson Tide's undefeated 2010 BCS National Championship team. He racked up 80 career tackles and seven career sacks.
Deaderick is a native of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where he earned all-state honors and helped lead Elizabethtown High School to its first state championship game in 24 years. He and his wife, Laura, have a son, August.
