Two Pearl River football standouts sign at next level

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River linebacker Noah Mitchell (Leakesville; Greene County) and receiver Stetson Moore (Philadelphia) are headed to the next level after signing with UTSA and Liberty on Wednesday.

More Wildcats are expected to sign with four-year programs in the spring.

NOAH MITCHELL
Mitchell was one of the premiere defenders in the MACCC once again in 2020.

Mitchell's 13.8 tackles-per-games are tops in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference — the only NJCAA conference to play football this fall. His 83 tackles are 25 more than the next defender. Mitchell also finished the year with 2.5 sacks, 9 tackles-for-loss and two interceptions — all tops on PRCC.

During his sophomore year, Mitchell was a two-time Forrest General Wildcat of the Week selection. He also earned the MACCC Defensive Player of the Week honor following PRCC's 28-21 win over East Central. Following the season, Mitchell was named to the All-MACCC South Division First Team and the JCGridiron.com All-America First Team.

"We're very excited about signing Noah Mitchell. He's a tackling machine who plays a position where we have an immediate need, so we believe he's going to make our inside linebacker group better the minute he steps foot on our campus," Roadrunners coach Jeff Traylor said. "Not only is he a very good football player, but he's also a great young man who is going to fit right in with our '210 Triangle Of Toughness' culture."

STETSON MOORE
Moore was a big target for PRCC's receivers in 2020, catching at least one pass in all six games for the Wildcats. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound receiver finished the season with nine receptions for 240 yards and three touchdowns.

Moore caught six passes in PRCC's opener against rival Gulf Coast, drawing several more pass interference calls. He also caught two passes for a season-high 75 yards and a touchdown in PRCC's 28-21 win over East Central.

Moore, who Liberty plans to play at tight end, transferred to PRCC from Mississippi Valley State prior to the 2019 season.

"This guy is going to be a freak for us at tight end," Liberty coach Hugh Freeze said during his signing day press conference. "This is a guy in our tight end that we're going to flex out. He's a matchup nightmare. Just go watch what he did to a lot of big-time DBs this year in Mississippi JUCO."
