Pearl River eSports bounces back in week two
POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River eSports program had some big moments and some rough patches last week across its competitions.

"We week had a little bit of everything — close calls, big wins, and a few 'back to the drawing board' moments," head coach River Roderick said. "Both of of our Fortnite teams just couldn't find eliminations when they needed them, but they're learning fast and will bounce back. Alex Pentecost went off in Madden, putting up 106 points. After a tough loss to Hinds last week, that kind of comeback says a lot about his focus.

"Rocket League got their first win of the season — and against our rival Gulf Coast, no less. In NBA 2K, Jaxon Hunter grabbed his second win of the year. Overall, I'm proud of the group. We're finding our rhythm, and the season's just heating up."

In Fortnite, the team of Laird Walker and Ian Herring fell twice to Marshall Town and Jacksonville College. Ethan Smith and Jeffery Jasper showed some fight but lost 2-1 to Marshall Town.

Carson Freeman dropped his match to Hudson Valley while Alex Pentecost eclipsed the 100-point mark across two games against Northwest College.

Colton Kropp and Alex Arbo defeated rival Gulf Coast in Rocket League, dropping a match but winning three to secure it.

Jaxon Hunter won his lone matchup against Herkimer on the week.
