POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced its weekly honors Tuesday, and No. 2 Pearl River baseball slugger Coy Clements was named the MACCC Baseball Player of the Week.
He is the first baseball Wildcat to win the award this season.
Clements put together a dominant five-game stretch at the plate, hitting .538 with a staggering .727 on-base percentage and a 1.538 slugging percentage. The Hattiesburg native drove in 11 runs, drew nine walks and homered in four consecutive games, consistently delivering in the middle of the Wildcats' lineup. He also added a double during the tear.
Through 23 games this season, Clements has been one of the most productive bats in the conference. He is hitting .448 with 28 RBIs and 22 runs scored, while launching 10 home runs and four doubles. He has also drawn 23 walks, helping fuel a remarkable .598 on-base percentage and a .955 slugging percentage.
