POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced its Player of the Week and No. 2 Pearl River's Caston Thompson (Jayess; Brookhaven Academy) snatched the honor.

The award is the second of Thompson's career after winning it once last season. PRCC now has won three MACCC Pitcher of the Week and two MACCC Player of the Week awards this season.

The left-handed hitter had an incredible week for Pearl River, going 7-for-11 at the plate for a .636 batting average. He slugged three homers and one double to finish the week with a 1.545 slugging percentage. He also drove in nine runs and walked four times. He also extended his hitting streak to 11 games during the stretch.

After the productive week, Thompson now leads the MACCC in batting average (.403), is tied for first in home runs (11) and is tied for second in RBIs (46). He has smacked 14 doubles, walked 29 times and scored 45 runs on the year.
