The Pearl River Wildcats had a day of ups and downs Saturday when they defeated Bevill State College 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20) but dropped their following game to Coastal Alabama East 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-22).
In Pearl River’s very first competition as a junior college volleyball program, the Wildcats traveled to Southern Union State for an exhibition contest. PRCC took the first two sets, but SUS rallied to win in five.
Pearl River experienced a number of firsts in its debut to open the season. The Wildcats crossed another one off the list Wednesday as they took Coastal Alabama-South to five sets. Despite rallying late, PRCC dropped the thriller 3-2 (23-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-21, 11-15).
With the exception of a slow first set, the Pearl River Wildcats volleyball team was dominant in their matchup against visiting Bevill State on Tuesday night, defeating the Bears 3-1 (17-25, 25-15, 30-28, 25-19).
Pearl River’s Shivers Gymnasium has both literally and figuratively been a construction zone for months. The structure is receiving its final touches, adding new locker rooms and coaches offices upstairs. On the court, head coach Haley Chatham has been hard at work preparing her young Wildcats for their upcoming debut.
