EUNICE, La. — The Pearl River women's soccer team had a night of ups and downs Wednesday when they tied LSU-Eunice 1-1.
The Wildcats had their opportunities and played sound defense for the majority of the game but gave up a goal late to send the game to overtime where neither team could capitalize.
"I thought we did a really good job of moving together," PRCC coach Henrik Madsen said. "We're starting to click a little bit. There's tons of room for improvement but it was much better tonight than it has been. We created a lot of opportunities."
The Wildcats took the lead in the first half when Tylee McCann (Leakesville; Greene County) cashed in on a corner kick to earn her first goal of the season.
"It was a really good play," Madsen said. "Victoria (Stewart) had a really good in swinging corner kick and it was sort of chaotic with a lot of people there and Amber (Smith) was going for it but it just fell to Ty and she made a play."
Due to lightning the game was called early about halfway through the first overtime period.
PRCC welcomes Meridian in its home opener on Friday at 5 p.m.
