POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River women's soccer team believes it has found the perfect complement to its 2019 signing class with the latest addition of Brazilian Laura Magleau. The Belo Horizonte native recently signed with Coach Henrik Madsen, who will be making his PRCC debut this season.
"I'm very excited to bring Laura into the program," Madsen said. "She'll be a great skillful addition to our team."
Magleau joins an incoming signing class that already includes English keeper Paige Horsnell, Ocean Springs defender Makenzie Ezell, Long Beach midfielder Alexa Beets, Clinton defender Bailey Riddley, West Harrison midfielder Brooke Geistand Greene County forward Tylee McCann.
"Laura is really the missing piece to our class," said assistant coach Tom Keen, who was Magleau's lead recruiter. "She's our missing piece of the puzzle for the attack. We already had wingers and forwards coming in, but she will be the key in the midfield to help us transition from defense to offense."
Magleau is 5-foot-5, 133 pounds and is left-footed, which the Wildcats believe will add a different look to their attack.
"Technically, she's a wonder with her left foot. She's more of a finesse player and will be a set piece specialist," Keen said. "Laura is a top-end passer. With Maddie's goal scoring touch and Tylee's pace, they need some distribution from the middle to help them out.
"Laura will be ideal for our attacking mid role."
