POPLARVILLE — The Pearl River Lady Wildcats are hoping to build off their recent momentum boost when they travel to Ellisville Saturday to play host Jones College in the MACJC semifinals. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
PRCC is fresh off of a come from behind 2-1 victory over Itawamba Thursday night.
PRCC coach Jack Byrd was pleased with the attitude and effort he saw from his squad in the first round.
"I thought we came out with great intensity. I felt like we played like the game mattered in terms of effort and we changed some things that we hadn't been doing well," he said. "Itawamba is a very tough team."
PRCC (8-7-1; 4-3-1) will be facing a familiar foe in Jones (11-2;8-0) as the Lady Wildcats faced off with them twice in the regular season, losing both times.
Byrd knows that in order for the Lady Wildcats to advance to the finals, they will have to match Jones' intensity.
"I fully expect to get their best, whatever formation they run they are going to do it well," Byrd said. "For us to be successful we are going to have to match the heart and effort Jones brings to every game and forget the past."
The winner of this game will play in the finals Sunday at 5 p.m.
