POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River's leading scorer has been honored by the league.
Sophomore Mychala "Pooh" Linzy (Clinton) was named to the All-MACJC First Team on Wednesday.
The honor marks a second straight season for Linzy to be honored by the MACJC after she was a Second Team selection following her freshman campaign.
"I am extremely excited for Pooh," Pearl River coach Scotty Fletcher said. "She is very deserving and has earned this honor and accomplishment. For her to be voted by the coaches in this league shows the respect she has gained over her two years in our program. Pooh has always put her teammates first and been a valuable asset to our campus, community and program.
"She has definitely left her mark on our program in more than one way, and will be missed immensely."
Linzy was one of the more prolific scorers in the conference during her PRCC career. As a sophomore, Linzy scored 312 points and averaged 13.0 points per game. She also led the Wildcats with 67 3-pointers and converted the long ball at a 37.9 clip.
This season, Linzy was one of PRCC's most reliable scorers. The sophomore guard hit double figures in all but five games. Linzy hit 20 points three times this year, topping out at 24 in a 74-50 must-win victory over Southwest.
Linzy averaged 10.5 ppg as a freshman and finished her Wildcat career with an 11.7 ppg and 575 total points.
