Pearl River rodeo competes in first event of spring

MERIDIAN, Miss. — The Pearl River rodeo team competed in its first event of the spring semester this past weekend when it traveled to Meridian for East Mississippi's competition. 

Kylee Ladner (Kiln; Hancock) placed fourth in Barrel Racing with a time of 15.10 seconds in the finals. 

Kason Davis (Poplarville) placed seventh in Breakaway Roping with a time of 11.3 seconds. 

The Wildcats had two teams place in Team Roping with Koby Sanchez (Ethel, La.) and Bryce Graves (Poplarville) placing tenth with a time of 8.2 seconds and Jeb Stewart (Hurley) and Blake Lyons (Ethel, La.; Silliman Institute) finishing eighth with a time of 7.6 seconds.  

"One thing we have got to work on is finishing" head coach Frank Graves said. "We had several instances where we were close to winning but we just weren't able to close it out well." 


The Wildcats will host their first rodeo event under Graves this weekend when they compete in the PRCC rodeo competition.
