POPLARVILLE — The Pearl River rodeo team traveled across the state line last weekend to participate in West Alabama's rodeo in Livingston, Alabama.
The event saw both the men's and women's teams place in the overall competition.
Sophomore Tyler Stewart (Brandon) placed sixth in bareback riding.
Tyler Holder (Lucedale; George County) placed fourth in saddle bronc riding.
The aforementioned performances helped the men's team receive 70 total points and place ninth in the overall competition.
"Tyler Stewart and Tyler Holder showed that hard work and dedication pays off," PRCC coach Robby Shaw said. "As a team we are off to a slow start but the other teams know that they can't count us out of anything."
Carli Hodges (Summerdale, Alabama) shined once again, placing 1st in barrel racing in both the final round and the average time.
Her two times were 16.73 seconds and 15.52 seconds.
With that finish, she helped the women's team place fourth in the competition and is now sitting in first place in the Ozark Region for barrel racing.
"Carli put together two great runs in the barrel racing despite the muddy conditions," Shaw said.
Up next for the rodeo team will be a trip to Sikeston, Missouri, as the Wildcats compete in Three River College's rodeo event from Oct. 11-13.
