Brazilian Joao Paulo "J.P." Valadares returns as the goalkeepers coach for the 2019 season, his second with the Wildcats.
In his first season at PRCC, Valadares helped tutor one of the MACJC's top keepers in Kobe Lie. He has also helped take John Bowman and Paige Horsnell's games to the next level in 2019.
Valadares is a decorated soccer player. He played futsal for Minas Tenis Clube during his U-14 and U-15 seasons and then transitioned to soccer as part of the U-17 program. At that point, he played for America Futebol Clube, which is a first division club in Brazil. He left his homeland to pursue both a soccer career and education in America at William Carey.
A member of the Crusaders' 2011 Final Four squad, Valadares returned to Brazil and attended law school at Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais. In 2014, Valadares returned to America and finished his business degree at William Carey, where he graduated in May 2018 with a minor in Spanish.
Valadares is the son of Sergio Modesto and Marcia Reis Valadares.
