Thanks to his standout play, the sophomore linebacker was named the Forrest General Wildcat of the Week.
Mitchell had one of his best performances in maroon and gold, racking up 15 tackles for a second straight week. The highlight of the game, however, was his 37-yard pick-six that put the Wildcats (0-2 overall; 0-2 MACCC South) ahead 17-10 early in the third quarter.
On the play, Mitchell dropped back in coverage, plucked the ball out of the air and then sprinted down the Co-Lin sideline for the huge score.
Mitchell also recorded a sack and finished the contest with three tackles-for-loss.
As a freshman, Mitchell was fifth nationally and led the then-MACJC with 11.5 tackles-per-game.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker has already increased his numbers early in 2020. Through two games, Mitchell's 30 tackles are tops in the conference.
