POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River football standout Jairus McFarland (Hattiesburg) has been named Forrest General Wildcat of the Week.
The redshirt freshman had an impressive showing in the Wildcats' opener against Mississippi Gulf Coast, registering two tackles and three pass breakups, and grading out at a 96. McFarland's biggest play came in the waning moments of the first half when he picked off a long Gulf Coast pass near the goal line.
The Wildcats return to action on Thursday, visiting Copiah-Lincoln for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. Thursday is the Wolves' homecoming.
A limited number of general admission tickets for Thursday's game can be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis by visiting colin.ticketleap.com. Tickets are $10.
Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) and Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) passes will be accepted, providing the pass holder calls Co-Lin's athletics department at 601-643-8464 before Wednesday at noon. Only one person will be admitted per pass. Pass and valid ID must be presented at the gate.
