POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River will hit the road Saturday for one of the bigger rivalry matches in the MACJC as the Wildcats will visit Jones College for the 89th annual Cat Fight.
Kickoff in Ellisville is set for 2 p.m.
Kelly Sanner will call the action on PRCCAthletics.com and PRCCMedia.com. The game will also be carried on WRJW 1320 AM in Picayune, WCJU 1450 AM in Columbia, WCJU 104.9 FM in Prentiss and both WHSY 950 AM and WHSY 105.9 FM in Hattiesburg. Carey Meitzler will provide the play-by-play with Barry Harper adding color commentary and Jacob Hickman delivering insight from the sideline.
PEARL RIVER WILDCATS
The Wildcats (1-4 overall; 0-3 MACJC South) come into Saturday's game having lost to No. 16 Hinds 51-9.
Terrence Humphrey (Clarksdale) leads Pearl River's quarterbacks. The freshman has completed 49 percent of his passes for 608 yards and four touchdowns. He has spread the ball around to 12 different players. Jaylan Wilson (Bay St. Louis; Bay) leads all PRCC receivers with 14 receptions. He's also third on the team with 152 yards. Latreal Jones (Taylorsville) and Khalil Levy (Ocean Springs) each have eight receptions for 157 and 155 yards respectively. Fresh off of his best game of the season, Stetson Moore (Philadelphia) isn't far behind with eight receptions for 124 yards.
Lance Stewart (Oxford; Lafayette County) has been PRCC's most consistent running back, collecting 365 yards and a touchdown on 79 carries.
Mitchell leads the team with 36 tackles; Sims and Cole have collected 35 and 34 respectively. Sims leads the team with five tackles for loss, and Cole has a team-high two forced fumbles.
Gayden Hence (Hattiesburg) has been a weapon for PRCC on special teams. Through five games, Hence's 39.9-yard average on punts is ninth in the NJCAA and third in the MACJC. Hence's 1,516 yards on 38 punts is the second-highest mark in the nation.
Additionally, Hence leads PRCC in scoring with 11 points on five PATs and two field goals.
JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS
The Bobcats (3-2; 2-1) are fresh off of a 34-6 victory over Southwest and operate a rather balanced attack, having rushed for 840 yards and passed for 816.
Ladamian Webb and Kalyn Grandberry lead JC's ground attack. Webb has rushed for 398 yards and four scores. Grandberry isn't far behind with 356 yards and three touchdowns.
JC has used two different quarterbacks this season. Fred Barnum has completed 55 percent of his passes for 550 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. Quaterius Hawkins has completed 62.5 percent of his throws for 266 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
Three receivers have stood out among the rest for Jones. Manny Jones leads PRCC in both receptions (20) and yards (252). Natorian Watts has hauled in eight passes for 126 yards, while Brodie King has 10 catches for 100 yards. He's tied with Bud Tolbert for the team lead with two receiving touchdowns.
J.D. Rutherford leads JC's defense with 37 tackles. Chei Hill and Daylen Gill are right behind Rutherford with 34 and 30 tackles respectively.
Rakeim Ashford leads the Bobcats with four interceptions.
Saturday is Jones College's homecoming.
JC leads all-time series 44-42-2, according to PRCC records.
