POPLARVILLE, Miss. — After spending the first two weeks of 2019 on the road, Pearl River's Gridiron Wildcats return to Dobie Holden Stadium at 6 p.m. Thursday to host No. 11 Copiah-Lincoln in the home opener.

The game will be streamed on PRCCAthletics.com and PRCCMedia.com. It will also be broadcast on WRJW 1320 AM, WCJU 1450 AM in Columbia, WCJU 104.9 FM in Prentiss, and both WHSY 950 AM and WHSY 105.9 FM in Hattiesburg.

Although PRCC (1-1 overall) fell at East Mississippi last week after a thrilling fourth-quarter rally in the season opener at Itawamba the week before, Wildcat coach Ted Egger saw plenty of positives in the Scooba performance.

"We played a really good half of football and showed we can compete with anybody. We just have to finish games," he said. "The focus this week is to make sure we're prepared to play 60 minutes of football."

Egger was excited by the performances of some of his playmakers, specifically freshman running back Lance Stewart (Oxford; Lafayette County) and freshman receiver Khlalil Levy (Ocean Springs). Stewart eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the first time this season and Levy had 123 yards receiving plus another 88 total yards on six returns.

"Levy is a guy who had a heckuva game," Egger said. "He's explosive. We have to find ways to get him the ball more."

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

Quarterback Terrence Humphrey (Clarksdale) has had a fast start to his debut at quarterback. The freshman has completed 34 of 66 passes for 435 yards and four touchdowns.

The QB has spread the ball around with his four scores have gone to four different receivers. Levy's 126 yards on the year lead PRCC. Jaylan Wilson (Bay St. Louis; Bay) and Latreal Jones (Taylorsville) each have 100 yards receiving on nine and seven receptions respectively.

Stewart leads all PRCC backs with 190 yards on 32 carries.

Freshman linebacker Noah Mitchell (Leakesville; Greene County) has been one of the conference's top tacklers through two weeks. He leads all Wildcats with 24 tackles.

SCOUTING CO-LIN

The Wolves (2-0) arrive to Poplarville ranked 11thin the country after defeating Holmes 27-21 and Northeast 14-7. Last week, the Wolves recorded an early safety and then scored two late touchdowns to nip the Tigers.

"They're a really good team. They're well coached and we're going to have to be ready to play," Egger said. "They try to hit explosive plays and get the ball to their playmakers."

Danny Clark is the trigger man for CLCC's attack, having completed 45.8 percent of his passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.

Clark has connected with nine different players. Antoine Robinson leads Co-Lin's receivers with six catches for 79 yards.

Drexlan Allen leads the Wolves' rushers, carrying 21 times for 99 yards and a touchdown.

The Co-Lin defense has combined for eight sacks and two interceptions in its first two games. R'Tavius McGee leads the Wolves defensive efforts with 15 tackles.

The Wildcats own a 42-39-3 all-time record against Co-Lin in the series, according to PRCC records.
