Pearl River College has taken state titles three times in the college's history. The first state championship was 1939. In 2003, although the team did not win the state championship, it did win the Region 23 title and was a contender in the 2003 Junior College World Series. In 2004, the Wildcats took the state championship, winning a school-record 27 consecutive games during that season. PRCC made junior college history that year by winning four state championships in the four major men's sports, baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. In 2018, the Wildcats claimed their third state championship, capping off a historic year for PRCC athletics that featured three state championship seasons.
The Pearl River men's basketball has been nearly as prolific in the state championship contests as have the football teams. Winning for the first time in 1927, the team won again in 1931, 1935, 1945, 1947, 1958, 1960, 1965, 1995, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2013 and 2015. The Wildcats won again in 2018, claiming the program's 16th state title.
The Pearl River women's basketball team has won the state championship just once in the program’s history, that coming in 1994. The Wildcats did win region titles in 1995 and 2003.
Pearl River football has taken the state championship more times than any other team in Mississippi. With a total of 19 state championships and co-championships, PRCC football teams won in: 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1949, 1952, 1953, 1956, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1963, 1969, 1970, 1976, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. The Wildcats also have two national titles to their credit, the first, under head coach Dobie Holden in 1961, and the second under head coach Tim Hatten in 2004. The 2004 Wildcats routed top-ranked Butler (Kan.) 35-14 in the Dalton Defenders Bowl at Coffeyville, Kan., to claim the national championship. The Wildcats also played for the national title in 2006 at the Pilgrim’s Pride Bowl in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, but were defeated by Blinn (Texas) 19-6.
Pearl River had a stellar year in 1995 when they won the state championship and the region championship. They won two other region titles before the program was disbanded.
Although soccer at Pearl River first began in 1999, PRCC soccer teams have consistently been among the best in Mississippi. The Wildcat men won their first state title in 2003 and then won four straight from 2012-2015. After a season away from the championship podium, the Wildcats claimed their sixth state championship in 2017, defeating archrival Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
The Wildcats won their first state championship in 2005 and then claimed another one in 2009. The PRCC woman added another title in 2012. In 2014, the Wildcats knocked off previously undefeated Jones County Junior College in the MACJC State Tournament semifinals before defeating MGCCC for the title. The Wildcats tacked on another title in 2015.
The Wildcats finally broke through in 2010 when they claimed their first state title. They were also state runner up in 2014. In 2019, the Wildcats qualified for the MACJC Tournament as the No. 8 seed, knocked off rival and No. 1 seed Jones County and went on to finish runner up in the tournament, clinching the honor of hosting the Region XXIII Tournament for the first time in program history.
