Tae Hardy, Mychala Linzy named Forrest General Wildcats of the Week

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Late season heroics have earned two Pearl River basketball standouts Forrest General Wildcats of the Week honors. PRCC men's star Tae Hardy (Ellenwood, Ga.; Believe Prep) and women's standout Mychala "Pooh" Linzy (Clinton) are the latest honorees.

MYCHALA "POOH" LINZY
Linzy has a knack for big-game performances. With her Wildcats (15-8 overall, 8-6 MACJC South) needing wins at the end of the season to secure a postseason berth for the second consecutive season, the sophomore came up big. In a 74-50 Sophomore Night win over Southwest, Linzy scored 24 points to lead PRCC past the Bears. Three nights later, Linzy scored 10 points to help the Wildcats edge Meridian 55-49 and secure the No. 3 seed in this week's MACJC Tournament.

Linzy is PRCC's leading scorer this season, averaging 13.1 points per game. She also leads PRCC from long range, making 37.6 percent of her 3-pointers.

PRCC's women will open their postseason play Tuesday with a 3 p.m. showdown against Itawamba in Scooba.

TAE HARDY
A recent Southern Miss commit, Hardy has continued to produce at a high level. Hardy scored 17 points with five rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 76-70 win over Southwest on Sophomore Night. Hardy followed up Monday's performance with a crucial 24-point display in a 81-74 victory at Meridian. Hardy added five rebounds, five steals and two assists over the Eagles to help PRCC (22-0, 14-0) secure the first undefeated regular season season in program history.

The former East Carolina guard has been PRCC's leading scorer all season, scoring at a 16.9 clip. He also leads PRCC in assists-per-game (3.4) and steals-per-game (3.1).

The Wildcats open their postseason at 3 p.m. Monday with a first round showdown against Itawamba at Scooba.
