Shania Wright, Rodgerick Brown named Forrest General Wildcats of the Week

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Basketball standouts Shania Wright (Clinton) and Rodgerick Brown (Memphis, Tenn.; Cordova) have been named the Forrest General Wildcats of the Week.

Brown is a two-time recipient, while this is Wright's first time to earn the honor.

Wright had a big week on both ends of the court and was a big reason the Wildcats (9-6 overall, 2-4 MACJC South) were in their games against Gulf Coast and at Southwest.

In PRCC's 56-55 loss to MGCCC, Wright scored 11 big points but where her impact was felt the most was on the opposite end of the court. Wright entered the night with a season-high of three blocks — which came in the season opener. The sophomore doubled that total against the Bulldogs, swatting away six shots while also pulling in five rebounds.

Two nights later in Summit, Wright scored seven points and pulled in 11 rebounds but the 6-foot sophomore also turned away six shots for the second straight game.

Wright is averaging 6.9 points per game this season.

A recent commit of Tulsa, Brown had a big week for the undefeated No. 3 Wildcats (14-0, 6-0).

In PRCC's 82-56 rivalry win over Gulf Coast, Brown turned in his fourth double-double of the season. Brown set a career-high with 21 points while also pulling in 11 rebounds — three off his high. Brown added three steals, one block and one assist in the win. Brown then helped PRCC past Southwest with eight points and seven rebounds.

Brown is third on the team in scoring this year, averaging 12.2 points per game. He's also second in rebounding, averaging 7.0 per night.

The Wildcats host Meridian on Monday before welcoming Copiah-Lincoln to Marvin R. White Coliseum on Thursday. Both doubleheaders will begin at 5:30 p.m.
