POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Volleyball's Madison Smith (Madison; Germantown) and football's D.D. Griffin (Richton) have been named Forrest Health Wildcats of the Week, Pearl River announced Monday morning.
Smith had one of her top performances of the season in PRCC's 3-1 (17-25, 22-25, 25-15, 23-25) defeat at Louisiana College last week. Smith tied her career high with a team-high 12 kills and also led PRCC (8-16) with three block assists.
Smith missed much of the season due to injury but currently has 77 kills and 43 total blocks.
The Wildcats close out their debut season Tuesday with a 5 p.m. start at Bevill State.
Griffin had a career day in the Wildcats' 24-19 victory over Mississippi Delta on Thursday. The freshman running back led the Wildcats with 105 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. Griffin's two TDs came on runs of 7 and 5 yards.
Griffin finished his freshman season with 303 yards on 79 carries. His four rushing touchdowns led the Wildcats.
